ECO City Farms is recruiting students for our first year of the Urban Roots Youth After-School Program (URYP) this Spring. The program will provide an after school opportunity for hands-on learning about urban farming, health and wellness, and sustainability.
Up to 15 students in the 4th-6th grade will meet on our farm for 7 weekly sessions starting March 28th. There are three main goals: to increase student’s connection to nature and sense of responsibility as future stewards of the environment, to implement healthy practices while learning the importance of balanced nutrition, and to have fun exploring pathways in the food system.
Students will take home their own vegetables they’ve grown over the course of the program and have the experience of planting a Native Pollinator habitat in addition to many other lessons and activities. This experience will better connect students to natural resources within their community and provide opportunities to stay connected in ECO’s future programming.
