Recap: Saturday, May 9, 2015

The ECO team has been very busy this past Saturday! Not only did we have events going on at both farms, this week marked the first week of the Summer CSA and the last weekend on the Neighborhood Soil Rebuilders course. (Click on the photos below to scroll through the galleries).

The Bladensburg Farm hosted a Tree Planting Extravaganza! For volunteer day, folks came out to help us plant fruit trees that were generously donated by Casey Trees. We still have more to put into the ground, so let us know if you’d like to be involved!

ECO partnered with Community Forklift to organize a Toddler Sensory Tour at the Edmonston Farm. Toddlers from all around came to investigate our worms, plant a seed, enjoy story time and make crafts for mom for Mother’s Day. A big thank you for snack donations: to Jim Coleman, the market manager of the Riverdale Park Farmers Market, for donating apples and Yes! Organic Market for donating granola bars. The book for story time was “Eco in the Garden” written and illustrated by Linda Oberlin.

ECO has another event with Community Forklift this month. Visit our Upcoming Events page to register for the Coldframe & Germination Chamber Building Workshop.
