Jack-O-Lantern Toss & Composting
Here at ECO, we try to take to advantage of every opportunity to transform others’ waste into treasure. In this case, the waste was jack-o-lanterns left over from Halloween, and our treasure is compost! Together with the Food Equity Council, we invited folks from the community to throw, drop and otherwise catapult their decorative pumpkins for some great prizes. The pumpkin shards were immediately placed in our food waste bins, and have been included in new compost piles, used by students in an ongoing intensive compost course co-hosted by ECO City.
