Giving Tuesday 2023

This time of year, we bring gratitude for the harvest. At ECO City Farms, we are on the front lines in the cultivation of healthy soil and the care for those that tend to it. November 28 is #GivingTuesday, also known as the Global Day of Unity and Giving. Individuals around the world are harnessing their power to uplift their community – will you be one of them?

By joining the Giving Tuesday movement, you’re proving that in times of uncertainty, generosity and community can bring the world together. ECO City Farms has spent more than a decade growing food and farmers as a small but mighty piece of the larger food justice movement. Now more than ever, we must take local action to build towards food sovereignty and environmental stewardship.

ECO has relied on community support since our very conception. We bring passion and pride to the work that we do. This year alone, we have had the privilege of:

  • Giving 10 farmers and farm businesses land and resource access at our Urban Farm Incubator
  • Educating 21 beginner farmers over 10 months of farm training and hands-on experience through our Beginner Farmer Training Program
  • Engaging 11 high school students in farm-to-table growing and food justice outreach through our Summer Youth Program
  • Growing 7,500 lbs of food that was then locally distributed through CSA, farm stand and donations

This #GivingTuesday, we are grateful for donors like you. As a small non-profit, every donation makes a big impact on our day-to-day operations and ability to serve our community. This year’s campaign will focus on supporting our new and beginning farmers through supplemental educational opportunities and farm resources.

ECO will be open for early donations beginning today, November 1. We look forward to sharing more stories from ECO leading up to Giving Tuesday!

ECO City Farms is a nonprofit urban teaching and learning farm in Prince George’s County that grows great food, farms and farmers in ways that protect, restore and sustain the natural environment and the health of local communities.
