ECO City Farms, along with other local partners, recently led the charge for passage of a county zoning amendment to allow for urban farming in residential areas under certain circumstances.
On October 22, 2013, this piece of legislation was passed by the Prince George’s County Council. Passage of this amendment allows ECO and other urban farms greater freedom to locate small areas for growing food nearer to those that will eat it. This also allows ECO to complete its plans for building an urban farm in Bladensburg, Md.
