What is it?
A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a subscription to a season’s worth of sustainably grown, locally sourced, fresh produce! Members pay at the start of the growing season to allow us to purchase necessary growing inputs. In exchange, members receive a share of veggies on a weekly basis.
We offer both Single and Double shares. A Single share contains 5-6 items each week and feeds about 2 people. The Double share also contains about 5-6 items, but in twice the amount, feeding about 4 people each week. The type of produce is dependent upon the season, but regularly includes salad mixes, cooking greens, root vegetables, herbs, and microgreens
CSA Policies
- SHARE PICK UPS: All members receive a pre-stocked bag weekly, and must pick their share up every week during their designated pick-up slot. Shares can only be picked up at these times, but you may send a friend to pick yours up if you cannot make it. If you do not pick up your share, you cannot double your share the next week. There are no make ups or refunds for shares not picked up.
- PAYMENTS: All farm share members must pre-pay for the season, except SNAP/WIC eligible. Members must commit to paying any balance by the due date. Payments can be made all at once or in two installments: 50% each via online store or with checks made payable to ECO City Farms. If paying by SNAP or Maryland WIC, members can provide a deposit and pay monthly. Deposit is due on the 20th of the month before the month you want to start buying, and is returned at end of season. There are no refunds for shares not picked up.
- CANCELLATIONS: There may be a given number of designated skip weeks during the CSA season. If additional cancellations by ECO are needed due to weather or other conditions, ECO will let members know by email. Make sure to consult your email on pick-up days!
- INCLEMENT WEATHER: Farm share pickups are held rain or shine, however in the event of hazardous weather conditions, ECO will notify members of pickup reschedule or cancellation via email notification and members will be issued a makeup option.
- CROP FAILURE AND RISK: ECO’s farmers and staff do their very best to provide consistent, high quality produce to every farm share member, every week. However, the farm share members share in the risks as well as the benefits of the growing season. Risks in farming include pests, drought, excessive rain, wind, and crop failure. In case of shortage in supply ECO may change the variety and quantity of produce, or cancel altogether.
