A Voice for Urban Food Security and Sustainable Farming
ECO City Farms advocates for a revitalized local and just food system, and partner with government, schools, other nonprofits, business and the community. ECO collaborates with a wide range of community partners to advocate for food justice locally, regionally and nationally.
Our staff and board members work to raise awareness of ECO’s role as a catalyst for systemic change in Prince George’s County and the region.
- We are one of the founding members of the Port Towns “Place Matters” Community Health Partnership Task Force, which has established the Prince George’s Food Equity Council.
- One of ECO’s board members is the Director of the Montgomery County Food Policy Council and another member is managing the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s food assessment study.
Our recent focus has been on two initiatives, which have recently resulted in success:
-
Prince George’s County Zoning Amendment to allow urban farming
-
Establishment of a Prince George’s County Food Equity Council
